Leonida Is a Whole State: Vice City Is Just One Piece

The game is set in the state of Leonida, not just its neon capital. Rockstar has named Vice City itself, the Leonida Keys, the wetlands of Grassrivers, the faded panhandle town of Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. That spread (dense city, island chain, swamp, small town and protected wilderness) points to the most environmentally varied map in the series, and it means a large share of the game happens well outside the skyline everyone fixates on.

The single most common misreading of GTA 6 is that it is a Vice City game. It is a Leonida game, and Vice City is one location inside it. Rockstar's own site names the state first and the city second.

Six regions have been named in official material. Vice City is the neon capital everyone pictures. The Leonida Keys are the island chain running south of it, the stretch Jason has been working out of. Grassrivers is wetland and waterway, the swamp side of the state. Port Gellhorn is a faded coastal town well outside the capital's orbit. Ambrosia sits inland. Mount Kalaga National Park is protected wilderness and the state's high ground.

That spread matters more than the count. Dense city, island chain, swamp, small town and national park is the widest environmental range the series has attempted, and it means a large share of the game happens nowhere near the skyline the marketing leads with. Port Gellhorn and Mount Kalaga in particular have nothing to do with the Vice City fantasy at all.

The obvious real-world read is that Leonida is Florida, and Rockstar has not been subtle about it. What the studio has not published is a map, a scale, or how these regions connect. Anything you have seen putting numbers on the size of Leonida is an estimate, not an announcement.
